CNP ASFALISTIKI IS THE HEALTD AND SAFETY SPONSOR OF OPAP LIMASSOL MARATHOON GSO

A Two-Day festival of Sport in Limassol.

CNP ASFALISTIKI, is the Health and Safety sponsor of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, which hosted the official media lunch on Friday (24/02/2017) at Dionysus Mansion. Amongst the guests who attended the media lunch were media reporters, the Marathon Organizing Committee and the Marathon sponsors’ representatives. CNP ASFALISTIKI held the media lunch in order to analyze the details relating to the preparations for this year’s race, which for the first time will be a 2 day event. It will take place during the weekend of the 18^th and 19^th of March and will follow the beautiful coastal route of Limassol.

After welcoming the guests, the General Manager of CNP ASFALISTIKI, Mr. Andreas C. Stylianou, commented that ‘it is a great honor for CNP ASFALISTIKI to cover the health and safety of participants for a second consecutive year of OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO.’ He also added "we are committed to support an outstanding sport event well recognized in Cyprus and abroad, with thousands of Cypriot and foreign runners participating every year". As the Health and Safety Sponsor, CNP ASFALISTIKI will provide its insurance strength to the 15,000 runners in this year’s race.

Mr. Spyros Spyrou, Head of the Organizing Committee, commented that ‘We are almost ready for the event. During these last few weeks before the event, we are working on the final touches of the 11^thOPAP Limassol Marathon GSO which we believe will be the greatest and most successful event in the history of Limassol Marathon. He also added ‘It is through the tireless efforts of the organizers, sponsors, supporters and volunteers that will result this years ‘marathon to be greater than ever’. Mr. Spyrou also commented on the increased participation from abroad.

Last year the OPAP Limassol Marathon attracted 13,000 runners and this year the figure is expected to rise. On Saturday the 18^th of March, the PrimeTel 5km Corporate Race will take place alongside the Dashin’s Foundation 1km Youth Race. Sunday the 19^th will see much more activity as the 42km Full Marathon, the 21km Half Marathon, the Petrolina 10km Energy Race and the 5km City Race will all start at 07:00. Once again the OPAP Limassol Marathon is proud to support the Karaiskakio Foundation. Contributions can be made through its website www.karaiskakio.org.cy or by SMS. Contributors can volunteer to be bone marrow donors, with the compatibility being tested by the innovating swab method, where the sample is collected painlessly through saliva.

Following his remarks, the President of the Fytidio Sports Centre (GSO), Mr. Neoklis Thoma, highlighted ‘The enormous benefits of the OPAP Limassol Marathon GSO, both for the city of Limassol and for the whole of Cypriot society in its entirety’.

On behalf of the OPAP Cyprus, the Board Member, mr. Charalambos Christou, commented that he stands by the international promotion of the island and praised the benefits of the event to both OPAP Cyprus and to the Limassol Marathon team.

The event was honored by the presence of the Mayor of Limassol, mr. Nikos Nikolaides, who also saluted the event.
