«The flame of life is the only flame we keep alight» Press Conference. Pancyprian Fire Safety Week, 06-12 May 2019

With the common goal of providing information as well as the prevention and protection in the field of Fire Safety, CNP ASFALISTIKI and CYPRUS FIRE SERVICE are joining forces in the fight of handling and preventing fire, thus confirming, for the 18th consecutive year, that major social challenges are addressed by collective efforts and cooperation between the private sector and state bodies.

The Fire Safety Week is being organized from 6 to 12 May 2019 under the auspices of the Honorable Minister of Justice and Public Order with the message “The flame of life is the only flame we keep alight”. The starting point for the Fire Safety Week was the press conference organized on the 6th of May at the EMAK Fire Station at Kofinou. The press conference highlighted the importance of providing information to the public as well as the importance of taking pro-active actions for protection against the risks of a possible fire, which, due to this year's increase in rainfall, are more necessary than any other year. The event was completed with fire extinguishing demonstrations.

The events of the Fire Safety Campaign will culminate with the International Firefighting Competitions which will be held on Sunday 12 May at 11:00 am at the area of the Castle at the Port of Paphos. The competition will include teams of firefighters from different countries, in specially designed games which are relevant to their work. Additional activities will be available for children at the event and symbolic gifts and informational material will be provided to the public on Fire Safety.
