Seminar «Prevention of Road Accidents»

CNP ASFALISTIKI, within the framework of Road Safety Week 2011 and the continuous improvement of services offered to its customers, organised a seminar on «Prevention of Road Accidents». The 6-hour seminar was held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Holiday Inn Hotel in Nicosia and it was mainly addressed to CNP ASFALISTIKI Clientele such as, General Managers, Officers who have under their responsibility and supervision car fleets as well as Health and Safety Officers.

 

The objective of the seminar was to inform about the causes of multiple losses caused by traffic accidents, road safety awareness, defensive driving and ways to avoid traffic accidents.

There was a short address on behalf of CNP ASFALISTIKI by the Sales and Business Support Manager, Mr. Haris Pastides, who stressed CNP ASFALISTIKI longlasting involvement in Road Safety issues as member of the European Road Safety Charter.

 
The seminar instructors presented the following subjects:
Andreas Papa, former Police Traffic Department Manager and now consultant on Road Safety Issues:
  • Traffic problems in Cyprus
  • Alcohol and driving speed
  • Defensive Driving
  • Scenarios and anatomy of traffic accidents
George Tsirkalis, Mechanical Engineer:
  • Basic Principles of vehicles operation
  • Brakes
  • Tyres
  • Car load distribution and how this can cause a traffic accident
  • Economic driving
Maria Michael, professor of psychology at Nicosia University:
  • Stress analysis & psychology and how it can cause a traffic accident
 
The seminar was followed by an interesting discussion and a lunch.
 

The seminar was attended by 25 persons and it was an absolute success.
